Capacity expansion works are continuing at our Orhanlı Wind Farm in Belen, Hatay. The aim is to bring the plant up to the full capacity defined in its generation licence.
Where things stand
The plant currently generates at an installed capacity of 12 MWm / 9 MWe from three ENERCON turbines. Its licensed capacity is 28.76 MWm / 25.76 MWe. Under the contract signed with Goldwind in April 2026, three new turbines will be added to the site, bringing the total to six.
Once the expansion is complete, the plant will generate at the full capacity defined in its licence.
Working alongside storage
The 20 MWe / 40 MWh battery storage system planned for the same site becomes all the more valuable as generation rises. Surplus energy produced when the wind is strong will be stored and used during the hours when the grid needs it.
The investment allows both the high wind potential of the Belen region to be used more efficiently and the existing grid connection to be exploited to the fullest.
